WE'RE BACK!!!!
Damn it's been a while! So yeah obviously there is some news to be shared! Yes, all of the rumors are true, we are indeed back! After all of the constant begging and whining about when or if anyone would ever see and other "Rival Karma" show...Here ya go! It's the same 4 guys with all new attitudes and are ALL ready to ROCK like never before!! We have been rehersing for the past few months and have 2 shows scheduled already.
Just for the record we never broke up....we just took a 20 month vacation! During that time you may have seen some of us in a few other bands. Eric played with Casual 69 and most recently with UnderCover. Mark played a few dates with That One Band. Matt has been playing with Sextion 8 and most recently filled in a date with UnderCover.
We are all really excited about getting back out as a band and playing all of your favorites again! Rest assured though...we are learning some new songs too! Quite a few actually, after all we have 20 months worth of catching up to do!! Our first show, at The Bridge St. Bar, in Sparland is going to be totally off the hook!! The new owner Adam, and his whole staff are some of the nicest people we have ever met and run and AWSOME Club! Make sure and get there early as it WILL be packed for this first reunion show!

Four Same Guys, Four New Attitudes: Rival Karma

Well Boys and Girls, it is that time once again.......no not that time, we mean time to update the news page again. A lot has gone on since the last update. It has been a fun summer with lots of good shows with great crowds.
As a band we have survived quite a bit through out the summer. We survived our first big road trip down to Champaign, despite all of the green shots we did. We also made it out of the M-P Fair beer garden with out incident. What a huge party that was! We all managed to survive Matt's bachlor party. We tried to return Mark at Wal-Mart but for some reason they wouldn't take him. We also had a great time at Matt and Yolanda's wedding and reception. From what Paul, Jason, and Eric remember it was very nice and a lot of fun. Matt was able to avoid the all of the storms while on his honeymoon in Jamaica, and we all survived the cold at Rocktoberfest.
After surviving all of the events, discussed and otherwise, this summer our greatest test may be this weekend. We are playing locally both nights!!! Friday night we will be at the new bar in Sparland, The Bridge St. Bar & Grill then on Saturday night the party moves across the river to Twisters, in Lacon. I am sure the shots will be flowing both nights. How will we ever survive??? Come and find out! Oh yeah, and one more thing....somehow we missed the anual celebration of the birth of our guitar player, Mark. So in order to make up for this error, we will be celebrating his birthday both nights, be sure to bring him up a shot or two either or both nights to make up for our mistake. He will appreciate it!!

Umm....Hello?....Is anyone there?....Is this thing on?....OK! And we're back! As you may have noticed, the band has been on an unplanned break since the first of the year; only getting together once, by accident, at Empty Pockets in Sparland, IL to celebrate VD.
Apparently the band needed a break to recover from the last few years of constant playing. This much needed break has been well spent however. Mark has moved into a new house and has been busy getting settled it. Matt has been busy helping plan his up coming wedding. After years and years of debate and contemplation, Paul has finally determined that he is in fact STRAIGHT! (Sorry Fellas) And anyone who knows the band at all, knows what Eric has been going thru the last several months.
The good news is the band has recently started holding rehearsals for their upcoming summer tour. Dates will be announced as soon as a few more shows have been confirmed. The boys are planning one hell of a rockin' show for this tour with a lot of new songs and other surprises, so keep checking back for details.
Our next show is at our new favorite venue, Empty Pockets. If you still haven't given this club a chance, then you should! It is nothing like the former bars at the same location. Trust us, the only thing the same is the address. We will be there on March 27th and again on April 24th.

Well it has been quite a while since there has been any changes to the website or any news added for that matter. We have gotten the chance to play in quite a few new venues since the last update. We have made a lot of new friends along the way and have gotten the chance to hang out with a lot of our long time supporters during that time. We would like to thank you all for your continued support. It is because of all of you that our crowds get bigger and bigger with every show.
As some of you may know, this next show is Eric's birthday, so we would like to see all of you out to wish him a happy birthday and buy him and the rest of the guys a shot. This will be the first time for us at this club, so lets all make it a memorable one.
Hopefully these news updates will be done a little more frequently........

Our First round of competition for the Battle Of The Bands, being held at the Lounge in Peru, IL., is this Friday night (05-02-03). We will be debuting a new original during our set. As far as we know now we are scheduled to go on last. We hope to see all of you there to support and vote for us. Remember, if you go, it is important to vote. We also be at the Lounge the next night doing our full show.

Ok, so as our break from playing is winding down, we thought we would share with you some of the things that have been occupying our time these last few months. Paul has been taking tap dancing lessons and is at the top of his class. Matt has also been taking classes, studying the fine arts of basket weaving and pottery. Mark finally learned how to ride a bicycle and Eric learned to read and tie his shoes. It has been a busy month for all of us.As far as the band goes we have been learning some new songs to add to our set list and also writing some of our own as well. We have also been able to go out and see a few of the area's other bands.
There is a great band playing at the Sly Fox in Lacon, IL this Friday night. The Barflyz are good friends of ours and have always done their best to support us in any way they can. We would like to see all of our fans out there to support them at their first show in Lacon. There is a link to their website on our links page if you want to find out more about them.

There have been a few new dates added to our gigs page and more to be added soon. We will be at the Sly Fox on New Year's Eve. They are offering a pretty good deal that night. $35 per couple $20 per person includes all mixed drinks & beer, appetizer buffet, live music, and breakfast buffet. Can't hardly beat that......we hope to see the New Year in with all of you.
We are planning on having bumper stickers for sale at our shows very soon, and possibly other merchandise for sale as well later on. More pix of past shows are making their way onto the site slowly but surely as time allows so keep checking back.

Well, finally made it around to update the site again.....what a long weekend we had! First of all we would like to thank all of you who came out to Barlow's Rock 'n Sports last Friday night on such short notice. We had a great time playing for a room packed full of partiers! We will be back there on Saturday December 28th....can't wait!!
Saturday was a great day and night for us. The Rocktober Fest was an awsome time....if you missed it this year be sure to make plans to attend next year. We would personally like to thank all of our dedicated fans who stuck it out to rock out with us all night despite the cold. It meant a lot to us and it was for a good cause.
We will be taking a few weeks to learn some new songs and possibly write some more of our own. Hopefully we can get the pix up from all of the past shows in that time too!

WOW!! What a party at Brother's Bar & Grill last Saturday night! We had a blast playing there and can't wait to get back! We met so many awsome people....now we know why Mark wanted us to play up in that area so much! Thanx to all that came out and a special thanx to all that made Mark's birthday a memorable one!

This weekend (10-05-02) we are headlining the Rocktober Fest in Princeton, Illinois. It is being held at Prairie View, which is just outside of Princeton. The gates open at 11:00am with the with the first band starting at noon. The bands on the bill are Last Call, Casual Man, Almost Stout, The Generics, and Rival Karma. We are to take the stage around 9:00pm and play until midnight.

As you can see the site is up and running again. Sorry for any inconvenience to those of you who tried to access the site and couldn't. To those of you who didn't notice the site was down, you need to check it more often!! Anyway.....thanx to Mike Billings and Technoligy Unlimited for helping get the new servers moved and up and going! The site should load faster and have less down time now.
Last weekend at Linda Lou's was a great time for all of us...well except for Mark who played with a broken foot. Thanx to all that came out!! A special thanx to Jason who stepped up and ran lights for us. They looked great....be looking for him behind the light board at upcoming shows.
Tomorrow night (09-28-02) we will be in Wyanet, IL at Brother's Bar & Grill. We are really looking forward to playing up north. REMEMBER!! It will be Mark's birthday this weekend so be sure to buy him a shot or two so he can't feel how bad his foot hurts!

Well another month has went by since we have updated the news page. Had a great time partying with all the boaters and all of our loyal fans who came out to the Henry Harbor Landings Labor Day weekend. It is always fun for us to play for all of you in Henry and those boaters sure know how to party too!! A special thanks to all of you who came down to support us at the RaceCar Bar & Grill when we opened up for the Rock 105.7 Michelob Light House Band, The BarFlyz! We hope to get more shows in there soon!
As far as the site goes, the pix are up from our show on Labor Day weekend and also from our show at the RaceCar. We have also put up a page with our promotional pix that we will be using on our new flyers. In the future we hope to have a section on here where you can download our flyers for our shows so everyone can help spread the word when we play. We also hope to have official Rival Karma merchandice such has t-shirts and stickers for sale on here and at shows sometime in the future. Keep watching for more details......
Our next show is this weekend (09-21-02) in Lacon, IL. at Linda Lou's 119. It has been a while since we have played in Lacon and our first time at Linda Lou's. We are really looking forward to it. We will play from 9pm until 1am. Next weekend (09-28-02)we are finally going to get to play up on Mark's home turf. We will be at Brother's Bar & Grill in Wyanet, IL. This should be quite a time since it is also Mark's birthday!! Hope to see everyone out for that one to wish Mark a happy birthday!!

We really apprciated seeing a lot of our loyal fans from our Club Bluz days make the trip across town to see us, and it was great to make a lot of new friends at R.J.'s as well. Welcome again one and all!! Had a blast playing in Henry this past weekend! Always fun to party with familiar faces, and be close to home! Our next show there will be the weekend after the 4th of July, so we should be outside on the deck. The pix from the last show in Streator (04-13-02) are up and the ones from Toluca and the Marina should be up soon so keep checking back.
Our next show is the Saturday
of Memorial Day Weekend (May 25th) in Henry IL, at River Valley Bowl. We had a great turn
out for this show last year and anticipate an even bigger crowd this year. As a band we
will also be celebrating our 1 year aniversary so there may be a few other special things
planned for the show! During our few weeks off we are planning to learn some new cover
songs and maybe get a few more of our own written.

Well as you can obviously see we finally have our web page up and going.........We'd like to give a big thanx to Josh for helping get this site off the ground and to Mike and Patrick at Technoligy Unlimited (www.Tech-Unlim.com) for hosting the site and helping with some of the technical stuff!! We hope to have pix from all of our shows up soon! Please remember; as is the band....this site is also a work in progress!!
As for the band, we are currently taking some time off from playing to work on writing our own material. Things are going well so far and hope to have three or four ready to play out by our show in April. We debuted our first single, "Bitter" in Streator on Feburary 8th and it was received well.
Keep checking the site often as it will be updated constantly with the help of Josh...........
